Jo Hughes
Executive VFX Supervisor
After completing a First-Class Honours degree in Media Arts at the University of London, Hughes launched her career in film in 2005, working on Tim Burton’s CORPSE BRIDE. In 2010, she worked as a VFX Production Manager on TRON: LEGACY (d. Joseph Kosinski), rapidly progressing into VFX Producing and VFX Supervision.
Winning three Canadian Screen Awards for Achievement in Visual Effects, for RESIDENT EVIL: RETRIBUTION (d. Paul W. S. Anderson), THE MORTAL INSTRUMENTS: CITY OF BONES (d. Harald Zwart), and POMPEII (d. Paul W. S. Anderson), Hughes’ portfolio includes titles such as RESIDENT EVIL: WELCOME TO RACCOON CITY (d. Johannes Roberts), SEX/LIFE (Netflix), and THE CHANGELING (Apple TV+), and most recently SOMETHING VERY BAD IS GOING TO HAPPEN (Netflix), where she served as Overall VFX Supervisor/Producer.
With a fervent interest in emerging technology and passion for visual arts, Jo is a dedicated member of the Visual Effects Society and mentor for Women in Film and Television.
